Day 3
Day 3! Alas our little journey is coming to an end. If you're lucky enough to devote more days to Rome, let me know about your adventures. The Eternal City is full of life, history, culture, and unbelieveable food. This itinerary is a must do at least once in your life. Vatican City is a city-state in Rome, and serves as headquarters for the Roman Catholic Church. The pope resides here. Ancient works of art reside here. One in particular is Michelangelo's painting of the Sistine Chapel ceiling. You've seen the ceiling before, or at least a part of it. The Creation of Adam features man, gingerly or feebly reaching out to touch God. It's iconic. If you go during high tourist season, it will be packed. As we stood like sardines in a can, a hushed murmur resonated in the room, and the guards yelled over the loudspeaker the word silencio.
I've added in an optional walk to the Rome Biopark (Zoo) and Borghese Gallery and Museum. I didn't have enough time to check this out so if anyone goes, please share you pictures with me!
