Délices Érable & Cie in Montréal, Canada
Canada and perhaps Montréal specifically has a long history of being the world’s foremost maple syrup producer. The amber colored thick sweetener has a distinct taste and is often associated with pancakes and other desserts. The sap is extracted from trees and boiled down to make syrup. Déices Érable & Cie is a well known destination for locals and tourists alike to get their fix of maple syrup goodies. The extensive menu and shop includes maple syrup (the one in a maple leaf bottle makes a great souvenir), candies, cookies, macarons, ice cream, dressings, popcorn, salt, jelly, and more. I had the ice cream, chocolate and Nutella, and it was a hefty serving and perhaps ill-advised on a cold day.
