The Surf Hotel in Block Island
We had a superb first lunch on the island at The Surf Hotel. Originally, the building was the residence of Dr. T.C. Mann who was a doctor. In 1876, it was purchased and made into a hotel. We opted for fun drinks. I had a salad as an appetizer and mussels which could also serve as appetizers. The portions are huge and the food is very fresh. Of course being on an island, seafood is common to most menus but if you have allergies or food restrictions, there is room to adjust. The salad was primarily fresh vegetables with dressing on the side. It's one of the older, more established places but casual (though neat) dress is welcome. The porch seating offers great breezes and views of the dock and the beach.
