Poppie's Fish and Chips is a staple for Britain's most famous dish consisting of fried battered fish and what we call fries. It's a common fast food or take away food in the UK. Some of the best fish and chips platters can be found in local shops, but Poppie's is a nice chain restaurant. They have a varied menu with everything from jellied eels to mushy peas to roast chicken. And of course the famous fish and chips which come in cod or haddock.

Leadenhall Market in London, England

Leadenhall Market is right in the heart of the city, boasting ornate columns and bright bold paint. It dates back to the 14th century and sits in the middle of what was Roman London. Originally peddling meat, poultry, and game, it now houses upscale retailers and unique eateries. It's survived the weathering throughout the years and even the Great Fire. In the early 90's it was extensively restored.

The Surf Hotel in Block Island

We had a superb first lunch on the island at The Surf Hotel. Originally, the building was the residence of Dr. T.C. Mann who was a doctor. In 1876, it was purchased and made into a hotel. We opted for fun drinks. I had a salad as an appetizer and mussels which could also serve as appetizers. The portions are huge and the food is very fresh.

Southeast Lighthouse in Block Island

The second of Block Island's lighthouses, Southeast Lighthouse is near Mohegan Bluffs. I caught the last rays of the summer sun around 6pm, driving out there with a friend on our rented moped. There's an area to park and a grassy area where you could picnic and enjoy the views. The lighthouse itself is on the smaller side, but it's the views of the bluffs you really want, especially as the sunset cascades into many hues of oranges and purples.

Driftwood Structure in Block Island, Rhode Island

There are no guarantees that this structure will be everlasting, but I found it during the summer of 2017. As I strolled during the morning hours, past the North Light Lighthouse, I came upon this view. Strange sticks placed together, perhaps deliberately for art, perhaps just on a whim. Blinking away the morning sun, I approached it and I felt like I had discovered the world's next wonder.

Mohegan Bluffs in Block Island, Rhode Island

All the guides say that you must visit Mohegan Bluffs if you visit Block Island. These views and this beach did not disappoint. There are a set of steep stairs and steep rocks to climb down towards a beach with views of rock cliffs and open waters. This picturesque spot is a favorite. Watch the windmills blow in the distance and let the rising tide brush against your feet.
