Cafe Havehuset in Hillerød, Denmark

After a nice stroll through Frederiksborg Slot, a wander through the grounds and gardens will lead you to Cafe Havehuset. Coming upon the restaurant is like stumbling upon a cottage in the woods. The menu is simple, with traditional danish fare like open faced sandwiches, hot and cold drinks, and cakes for dessert. We had the fried plaice fillet with mayo, shrimps, black fish roe and diced chicken salad in creamy mayo with asparagus and mushrooms. It was a nice refreshing treat after our palace visit at Frederiksborg Slot.
